a birthday food and beer adventure

I've finally turned 21! To celebrate the big occasion, my partner and I spent the day drinking lots of weird beers, ciders, and eating a lot of cheese. Perfection! Here's a wee snippet:

First stop was at Rogue & Vagabond where I got a free mango & tumeric cider so thick, it was practically a smoothie! Next stop: Hashigo Zake, where we played battleships and jenga, and also tried the weirdest imported beer that tasted like sour smoke & coffee.

After that we stopped by Fortune Favours for some delicious beer & cheese matches that we're so so tasty. The blueberry cider and cheddar match was my favourite!

My favourite stop was the Wellington Chocolate Factory for some Peruvian hot chocolate and tasty truffles. You get to see the whole process take place in front of you, the roasting of the beans and tempering and grinding, it was incredible!

And the staff we're so lovely!

When you step in the door, you're hit with the most divine smell of roasting cocoa.

Now for the definite most bizarre drink that we tried of the day: a maple and pine cider that did, indeed, taste like the woods it was created from!! So so interesting, and definitely weird.

We finished the night off at the Garage Project tap room for more tasters and even more cheese! Disappointingly we had actually tried most of the beers that had to offer, but the incredible soft french cheese that we had made up for it, oh my lord.

Having decided we had drunk enough and gotten tired, we called it a day. deciding to take home some Burger Liquor and watch Parks & Rec. The ideal ending to a wonderful day.
