So after a holiday period of eating chocolate everyday and drinking a lot of wine, I felt I needed a diet 'reboot'. Now that January is almost over, I feel like I've finally figured out what works for me and my body and I feel the healthiest I've ever been!

Though I'm not a vegan, I like to eat a heavily plant-based diet consisting of loads of veggies, fruit, nuts & seeds, legumes and I also use supplements. I like to eat a wholefood based diet, I try to stay away from packaged foods and have as little dairy and gluten as possible, I have quite a sensitive digestive system and have found that eating like this has really worked for me. As has maintaining a lower carb, high fat diet, I can be quite sensitive to foods such as bread, rice, pasta, etc. my body just doesn't agree with them, I get so so bloated.

On this particular day I wasn't working so I had time to make a special breakfast, and Acai Protein

Smoothie Bowl! So so so good and surprisingly filled me up until lunch.

For lunch most days I like to have a salad-type meal or some cooked veggies and a few poached eggs as the protein part of the meal. I am a pescetarian, though I only eat fish maybe once or twice every couple of weeks, so I eat a decent amount of eggs and use protein powder to make sure I'm getting enough protein in my diet.

So usually I'll have 3 meals a day and then snack in between, I'm a massive snacker, I swear I'm constantly hungry. My go-to snacks are carrots and hummus, fruit, protein shakes etc. and chocolate, not gonna lie.

Dinner was also a salad with some homemade vegan chickpea patties, it's really hot here in New Zealand so I've been feeling like lighter meals so I've been eating lots of salads.

Maintaining a healthy diet can be hard and also EXPENSIVE to be honest, I've found I can get a weeks worth of veggies at the Sunday markets for like $20 which is so so cheap, they're also fresher than the veggies at the supermarkets I've found. Supplement wise I use Tropeaka superfood and protein powders, they make the best plant-based protein powder that I've used that actually tastes creamy and doesn't leave a weird residue in my mouth.

Being healthy can be easy once you get into it, I am so used to eating this way now and it makes takeaways and chips and stuff like that a special treat now which makes life all the better for me!

Hopefully you might get some food inspo from this post, also check out my Instagram for loads more healthy food posts!
