bleached hair don't care!

So a while ago I decided: “screw it, I’m going blonde!” and blonde I went. Currently I am sitting at a near platinum blonde and I freaking love it! I honestly feel like I was born to be a blonde, I have no regrets!

Going blonde is a massive deal and definitely an investment. With your hair, always ALWAYS go to a hairdresser, DIY dye is never a good idea and honestly destroys your hair (which teenage me learnt the hard way). And remember, you are paying for quality. So yes you’re gonna end up paying a small fortune, but trust me it’s definitely worth every cent.

For me, it took 3-4 sessions to transition from my naturally dark brown hair to the colour I am now, and my roots are having to be done every 4-6 weeks (depending on how lazy I am). My AMAZING hairdresser is Lauren from the Miss Fox Hair Salon in Wellington and my god, I cannot praise her enough! This lady definitely knows what she is doing. She has a magical way with bleach and cares so much about you not only looking good and loving it, but also wants to preserve the health of your hair to the best of her ability. Though the colour has been very bleached from my hair, I have never had an issue with it feeling unhealthy or snapping off, she always tries to give you a treatment and only uses the best products they have! As a member of the Schwarzkopf Professional Made to Create Team 2017, she definitely knows what she’s doing! I cannot recommend her enough, she is magical!

Now obviously you can’t get your hair washed at the salon every time, so here are a few tips for at-home hair care:
Invest in a really good purple shampoo to prevent brassy tones from seeping through youre hair. My favourite is the Schwarzkopf BC Bonacure Color Freeze Shampoo.
Only use shampoos and conditioners that are alcohol, sulfate and paraben free. Otherwise you are only just going to further damage your hair.
Limit heat tool use. I never blow dry my hair and only use a hair straightener maybe once a week at the most.
Use hair masks often! My favourite is Lush’s H'Suan Wen Hua which leaves my hair feeling so soft and hydrated and just amaaaazing. I use this about once a week-ish.
Always put in a treatment after washing your hair and go for something natural. I am a fan of Lush’s R&B, I just use a really small amount and comb it through my ends. Hair oils like coconut oil or jojoba oil are great as well.
So if you’re thinking about taking the plunge and going blonde, DO IT!
Lots of love and good luck! Courtney xx
