Racks and racks of colours and patterns and textures fill these stores to the brim. For a person looking for individuality and self-expression, thrift stores are the way to go. You can find something unique, old, new, vintage or just plain weird at thrift stores, but that’s what makes them so special. As someone who loves shopping and clothes but kinda struggles to find thing that I like and feel comfortable in, I find thrift stores are often perfect for this situation, there are so many different brands and they’re full of stuff that you can’t find anywhere else so you don’t have to worry about looking like all the other people on the street. So many stores these days always sell quite similar things, so individuality is sometimes hard to come by. In wellington, when I think of self-expression and character I immediately think of Cuba Street, it’s the place to go for something different. Rich with its own kind of culture and Cuba Street offers a variety of thrift stores to browse. Here are a few of my favourite:

Hunters and Collectors

If you want like an old school, classic vintage store than this is it. Packed with old faux fur and leather coats, vintage shoes and ball gowns this place is unique is its own respect. Though it is on the pricier side, you are paying for quality and authenticity here.

Thrift

This place is on the newer side, it is a bit smaller and has more modern style second hand clothes. They always have some awesome dresses and vintage 50’s style clothes to check out and they are quite affordable, also they’re always looking for people to donate!

Paper Bag Princess

Out of these stores, paper bag princess is the most affordable. With its fairy lights and painted exposed brick it has an awesome and unique kinda vibe about it. This place is more for the casual type of second hand clothes I would say, not too expensive and not too much on the vintage side but definitely great for picking up some basics that don’t empty out your pockets.

Recycle Boutique

Now this one is my favourite, its biiiig and there’s just racks upon racks of stuff ranging from vintage to designer modern, there’s a bit of everything in here. It’s such a cosy little store as well, wooden floors and big bright windows, you can easily spend an hour or so in here. Now this store is a bit on the little more pricey side of thrift stores but not everything is unaffordable, the prices can range from like $4.50 to over a hundred dollars, so there’s something for everyone.

Let me know what thrift stores are your favourite, I’m always looking for new stomping grounds! Courtney xx
