what i eat in a day no.1

'What I Eat In A Day' videos are probably my favourite YouTube videos to watch. I love to see all the amazing and healthy food people are making, not only is it inspiring but it actually quite educational as well, I learn a lot from watching other people cooking.
As you know, I loooooove healthy food and the concept that your body is a temple, you only have one so you should look after it. I love the idea of a holistic lifestyle, I believe you should nourish your body with all the good stuff and nutrients you can get from whole, unprocessed foods.
My diet is quite clean. I don't eat junk food or fast food or takeaways really. But I will still have the occasional pizza or gin & tonic, everything in moderation! Living a healthy lifestyle shouldn't mean that you are very restrictive with yourself otherwise you're just not going to be happy, you'll likely fall off the wagon and have to start all over again, so moderation is key. Like are your really living if you cant enjoy a takeaway on Friday night without feeling guilty about it?
Obviously I eat different things everyday, so these are the kind of things that i eat on my days off:

BREAKFAST
Chocolate Protein Pancakes with coconut yoghurt and half a banana. I used the recipe from my previous post and just added a tablespoon of cacao powder, which is high in antioxidants and fiber, and also CHOCOLATEY. I'm not lactose intolerant, I mostly just like the taste of coconut yoghurt but I do try to have as little dairy as possible mostly for moral reasons, also dairy kind of makes me feel a bit clogged up.

LUNCH
Lunch is usually just whatever I have in the fridge. I always try to have eggs and leafy greens in the fridge because then I feel like I can easily make a meal. Today I made some curried scrambled eggs with a tomato, broccoli and balsamic salad. I eat eggs like every single day I swear, I love them, and they're a good source of protein for me as I am a pescatarian and only eat fish around 2-3 times a week.
DINNER
So I went out to dinner, and I FORGOT TO TAKE A PHOTO?! so shocking, and a bit annoying. I went out to dinner with some girlfriends to a Turkish restaurant. I had falafel with hummus, salad, tabbouleh and a sneaky bit of Turkish bread. It was so so so yummy and I had a serious food baby afterwards, totally worth it.

SNACKS
I am a snackaholic. I swear I feel like I'm constantly snack like I have to execute some real self control when it comes to snacking. So I usually have a snack in the morning, between breakfast and lunch which today was carrot sticks and hummus. For breakfast I like to have some form of carbs so I stay full for like 3-4 hours afterwards. I also have a snack after lunch which today was a Justine's Protein Cookie. I am ADDICTED to these, they are so beyond delicious and quite filling, they are like a soft baked cookie, they taste like a regular cookie but they pretty natural, lots of good stuff, 10/10 recommend.
I also always have a protein smoothie after my workout. As you can probably tell, I have a big sweet tooth, so my go to smoothie is obviously chocolate based, it's like drinking a dessert. Honestly I would pick this over an ice-cream laden milkshake any day.
Banana Chocolate Protein Smoothie 1/2 a frozen banana 3 ice cubes 1 scoop protein powder 1T cacao powder 200ml almond milk
Blend everything together, pour and enjoy!

SUPPLEMENTS
At the moment I am loving ProSupps Whey Protein Isolate in the flavour Peanut Butter Cookie. It is so so yummy, and this is such good protein powder. Not full of any nasty fillers or unpronounceable chemicals, just pure protein pretty much and so nice and creamy too. I get mine from NZ Muscle which is a great online store for all things supplements, they're prices are great and they're delivery is free and pretty much next day, plus you always get a few lil freebies, I highly recommend them. I always drink my Best Glutamine while I'm working out as it helps with muscle recovery and keeps me energised and hydrated. I find that whenever I drink this while working out I don't feel as sore the next day which is great. I get mine from NZ Muscle as well.
So I'm pretty sure I have digestion issues. I find that almost every time I eat I get bloated, like quite easily, and I'm not sure why currently. So I went to my nearest naturopath and asked for some advice. She recommended this product for me and oh my god it's been a savior, my food digests much more easily and I'm not nearly as bloated which is such a nice feeling.
I find the whole nutrition and health aspect of food so interesting, nothing makes me feel more good than putting pure, wholesome food in my body. There's just endless benefits to eating well and it's such an enjoyable lifestyle.
I'm thinking my next post might be fitness based, I filmed a leg & booty workout on my Instagram and am considering posting it on here too.
Stay tuned! Courtney xx
