neat places: the wellington apothecary

Today was spent milling around town with my mother in the sunshine, we walked up and down Cuba Street in Wellington and noticed a cute little shop that we almost walked past. We went inside and were quite surprised by what a lovely shop it was we found: The Wellington Apothecary!

Established in 2014 by three women with over 20 years combined experience in herbal medicine, holistic skincare and whole food nutrition, you can definitely trust that these products will deliver.

With industrial-chic minimalistic style and shelves and shelves stacked against the walls, bursting with plant life and the most beautiful smell of essential oils filling up the room, it was such an immediately calming space, it felt like a retreat.

There’s nothing I love more than natural skincare, I find I have quite sensitive skin so I can’t use anything with alcohol, fragrance or soap in it on my skin; so this place was a blessing! They have an amazing selection of all-natural botanical skin care: they have clay masks, herbal teas, cleansing balms, facial oils, perfumes, literally anything you would need.

I tried out the Ivory Clay Mask designed for sensitive skin. I got the little 50g sachet of the dried clay for $7, you only use 1tsp of the dried clay then mix it with a bit of water to form a paste, so you would probably get like 8 masks from it I reckon. I just brushed it on with a makeup brush, left it until it was completely dry and started to flake off. Oh my lord my skin feels so soft, like baby’s bum soft, I definitely recommend trying it out.
