the 'new year, new me' post!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!!

As it is the beginning of the new year, the list of new ‘resolutions’ starts building again. You might be surprised by this but this is actually the first year I have ever made an actual list of new year’s resolutions, but having seen the whole resolutions thing failing every year, I’ve decided to call these my ‘new year’s goals’. This is a list of things I want to achieve in 2017, not things I have to do, I don’t want it to turn into a thing that’ll make me feel guilty for not sticking to. I think new year’s resolutions/goals are such a good idea, I’m all for people bettering themselves and their lives, and it’s good to have goals to achieve, they keep you motivated!

So without further ado here are my 2017 goals:

  1. Be better with money I mean this in the sense of not spending and spending. Not gonna lie, I love love love clothes shopping, I’ll happily fork out a couple hundred on some clothes but am so restrictive when it comes to things I actually really need to buy, like a laptop or some new gym shoes. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a pretty good saver but I still feel like I could manage my money a bit better. So my aim is to spend less on things I don’t need and not feel guilty or worry about spending lots of money on things I actually do need.

  2. Use social media less As good as social media is, it’s not a very healthy hobby (at least for me personally). Having noticed how much time I actually spend just mindless scrolling on the internet I’ve decided to cut back quite a bit. I have just found it hasn’t been very mentally healthy for me to be watching and reading about everyone else’s lives, as I fall into comparing myself to these people. I’m quite proud of myself, I’ve have already started this goal, I deleted snapchat! And oh my god it feels good to be rid of.

  3. Try veganism for a week I’m pescatarian, so I feel like this won’t be too hard. I just wanna see if I can actually do it and see if my body might benefit from it. (I’ll document my success or failure lol)

  4. Take more photos I need to be better at documenting all the good things that happen this year.

  5. Read more! I’m just slack when it comes to reading books, I don’t have the attention span, but I want to get better at it. I want to at least read before bed every night.

  6. Be better at seeing friends I feel like I have been so rubbish at catching up with people the last year and it’s so disappointing, I haven’t seen some of my closest friends in months so I really need to be better at making time to see people.

  7. Say yes to more opportunities! The amount of times I’ve said no to a friend’s party or going out because I’m worried I’ll be too tired for work the next day is actually ridiculous. I’m kind of disappointed in myself for it, and this comes along the same lines as the seeing friends goal, so I’ve decided to say yes to practically everything that’s gonna be thrown my way this year.

  8. Try and meditate every day Recently I have started meditating as a way to kind of shut off from the world and slow down a bit. I have struggled to kind of be in the moment and have found that mediating has been so so helpful for me to just enjoy the now. I highly recommend it!

  9. Spend more time at home I moved out of home for the first time at the end of 2015 and since then I haven’t been very good at visiting home. I keep using the excuse of ‘oh it’s too far away’ but it’s really not, I’ve just been slack. And every time I go home I love it! Like I benefit so much from seeing my mum and my puppies so I need to get better at doing that.

TRAVEL!

I have never left my home country. And that’s not a bad thing, but I just know I would love travelling so much so my goal for this year is to do so. I’m so so excited for it!

And thus concludes my goals so far, but I’m sure that the list will grow and grow over the year.
